Call For Writers

Submissions to the Yukhika Voices website:

YL: Wisconsin’s Indigenous People’s Voice in Arts and Culture is always looking to feature original works from Wisconsin’s Native American writers on our website. We’re seeking critical reviews of fixed media and Native American events, Native American short stories, opinion essays, memoirs, and Native American poems. Another popular genre is reviews of movies about Native Americans either seen in a theatre or on Netflix. We want pieces that heal, inspire, divide, and bring us together, but most of all we want work that captures what Wisconsin’s Native people are thinking about. Submissions are accepted every month.

Genres needed and desired word count:
  • Critique of media, (500-800 words)
  • Live Event critique, (750-1000 words)
  • Fiction (600-1000 words),
  • Opinion essays (600-1000 words),
  • Memoirs (500-800 words)
  • Poetry (up to 30-60 lines, may submit multiple poems to reach line count)
